The Nederlandse Dansdagen (Dutch Dance Festival) saw its inception in 1998, when three organizations joined forces, namely the Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht (venue), the Directie Overleg Dans (organization representing professional dance companies in the Netherlands) and NPS Television (public broadcaster with a special focus on the arts). Ever since, these three organizations have jointly organized this annual three-day dance festival, which offers an overview of the most talked-about and important dance productions staged in the Netherlands over the past season.
