Pivot Dance is a European cooperative project of the Dutch Dance Festival, The Place (UK) and Comune di Bassano del Grappa (Italy). At Pivot Dance common cultural leadership of choreographers and producers is at stake. Choreographers and producers merge their separate processes into one process from the beginning, instead of meeting each other at the end of the process of creation. The combination of artistic and productional perspectives can lead to new insights concerning the artistic work.
There is also an important role for the audience concerning the creation process. Within the Audience Club different spectators are united to stimulate involvement and an active role. The audience will not only be involved in the final artistic result, but also in the creation process. Spectators get a key role in sharpening the creative process.
The methodology of the project based on the business model ‘Lean Start-up’. The most important aspect of this methodology is to examine new ideas in an early stage of the process, to make it possible to pivot early on. The results of the project will be presented in the 2016-2017 theater season. In 2015 the Dutch Audience Club was already active during the Dutch Dance Festival, which took place from October 2-4 in Maastricht.
