Changing Shapes: Five conversations with Toer van Schayk
Changing Shapes was the fifth edition of the dansMuseum and was presented at the Nederlandse Dansdagen 2021 in the form of five conversations with one of the most versatile artists in Dutch dance: choreographer and visual artist Toer Van Schayk.
In addition to his career as a dancer and choreographer, Toer is a prolific artist who has built up a rich ouevre ranging from sculpture, painting, drawings to stage and costume design. In this exhibition, each conversation will focus on a particular work by Toer - five conversations about five different works - with the aim of discovering new insights about the work and highlighting Toer's unique experience as a multidisciplinary dance artist.

Exhibition at the Bonnefanten Museum
As a companion to the online exhibition Changing Forms: Five Conversations with Toer van Schayk, the Bonnefanten Museum presented drawings from Van Schayk's recently completed episodic series, inspired by Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo's ‘Punchinello’ series (c. 1800). The thirty drawings on display, from 30 September to 7 October 2021, were accompanied by a filmed conversation between Van Schayk and art and literary historian Prof Dr Emilie Sitzia.
