Ze noemden me duivelskind
Michaela DePrince en Elaine DePrince (2017)
"Michaela DePrince was born in 1995 in Sierra Leone, ravaged by a bloody civil war. When her father is killed by rebels and her mother dies of malnutrition, Michaela is placed in an orphanage. There they call her the devil's child because of the white spots on her skin. She was neglected and abused until an American couple adopted her at the age of four. Michaela seemed to have only one wish: to become a ballerina. Her adoptive parents encouraged her love of ballet and allowed her to take lessons. Michaela proved to be a natural talent and fought her way to the top in the harsh and prejudiced world of ballet. Ze noemden me duivelskind (They Called Me The Devil's Child) impressively tells the story of Michaela DePrince's rise from war orphan to famous ballerina."
