Body Drift

With the performance Body Drift, choreographer Mami Kang aims to create a state of constant change. With dream-like fragments, voice, sound and movement, the work depicts dance as something that transcends human exceptionalism and brings an altered aliveness.

The assembled figure encompasses a layered spiritual microcosm. It resists the economy that seeks to reify the world and reduce the individual to a single and solid representation. Spatial temporal reconfiguration here does not seek linear progressions, but rather tunes into the emergence of forgotten, dilapidated and unknown bodily locations.

By exploring unconscious desire, Body Drift invites the audience to participate in a cryptic, elusive, thus charged space where fiction and reality, imagination and materiality intersect.
