Gelukskind

Sjeng Scheijen is interviewed by Joyce Roodnat (NRC Handelsblad) about his recently published biography of Hans van Manen, Gelukskind (Lucky Child). Scheijen talks about the process of creating the book, the many conversations he had with Hans van Manen himself, his dancers and his friends, including of course Erwin Olaf, who recently passed away.

Scheijen previously wrote the biography of Sergei Diaghilev, which has been translated into many languages and is now considered the definitive standard work on the great Dance pioneer.

During the talk, short excerpts will be shown from van Manen's choreographies, which Scheijen will comment on briefly.

After the talk, there will be a short opportunity to have Gelukskind, het leven van Hans van Manen signed by Scheijen.
