Kijk in mijn Ogen!

An important part of the mission of the Nederlandse Dansdagen is to get society moving around social themes with dance. To propagate and strengthen this mission, ND has developed dansWEB together with a broad network of partners.

With dansWEB we let the elderly, people with a disability and children and young people in special education experience the power of dance themselves, as a means of communication and an instrument to express yourself. As an introduction to dance or as a deepening of the dance experience, we activate diverse communities in Maastricht.

One of the dansWEB projects is the collaboration with elderly care umbrella organizations Envida and Sevagram and PRA Muziektheater. During the dynamic dance performance Kijk in mijn Ogen! (look into my eyes) of PRA on location in care center Scharwyerveld, meeting each other with an open mind is central. Pupils from primary schools and residents of residential care centers made this performance together with professional dancers and musicians from PRA. While dancing, children and the elderly get to know each other, challenge each other, and come to a musical dialogue. Prior to the performance, the residents of the care centers and the pupils of the primary school had two workshops together in preparation for the performance.

The power of the encounter between young and old through dance and music continues to amaze and inspire.
