Nido Dorato

The Gilded Nest. Refers to the old abandoned furniture factory in Pergola, Italy. Among the broken bottles, broken chairs, and discolored walls, people dance. Each dancer in their own world and occasionally together for a moment. They gaze musingly out the broken windows. The reflection acts like a prism, shifting reality, impermanence, and taking on a dazzling beauty. Vulnerability, fragility, and strength go hand in hand.

Dance company Marc Vlemmix Dance has its home base at the Nieuwe Luxor Theater in Rotterdam. This is where dance is performed, by people like you and me who thought they couldn't do it (anymore), because of a body that no longer does it justice. We all carry something with us that gets in the way of going through life smoothly and gracefully. Whether it's Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis or rheumatism, or just the stiffness that comes with age. With us, no suits to sit by or a sideline to stand on, but a sky to dance the stars from.

Marc Vlemmix Dance invites you to join us. On the front lines of a movement that stands for a society in which authenticity and individuality are the norm. In which we can be different together. The richness that comes from all these different lifestyles and identities is the source of inspiration for Marc Vlemmix Dance. In dance we find our language through which we tell stories. Stories that invite encounters. Stories that give meaning to society and your place in it.
