About Andrea Beugger
For Andrea, dance is a language without words, in which stories become tangible and everyone can intuitively share in the experience. With dance, anything is possible. Her work centers on people, animals, and nature. With empathy, imagination, energy, humor, and a touch of absurdity, she uses dance and all its possibilities to create space for encounter and connection.
For more than 33 years, Andrea has been working as a freelance dancer, performer, community artist, choreographer, and teacher. Drawing on her experience with an aging body, she explores how movement can be a space where everyone matters. For her, dance has a healing power: it’s a way to feel, process, and reconnect with yourself and the world around you.
In addition to dance, theater and art provide Andrea with a vital space for imagination, wonder, and sometimes an escape from everyday reality. Her artistic language spans physical theater, dance theater, mime, and object theater. Andrea studied at Codarts from 1990 to 1993 and has worked with dOFt, Compagnie Tiuri & Jordy Dik, Golden Palace, Muziektheater Pra, Jakop Ahlbom, Danstheater AYA, Panama Pictures, Plan-D, Karina Holla, Vloeistof, Telder, Directie@Co, Hans Hof Ensemble, Bollwerk, Tryater and many others.
