Winter Wieringa
Winter Wieringa is the winner of the Jonge Zwaan meest indrukwekkende jeugddansprestatie 2024 for his role in Hoop! (12+) (Wies Bloemen/Danstheater AYA).
Jury about the nomination
‘’In Hoop! Winter Wieringa stands out for his light-footed, sometimes almost nonchalant way of dancing. Walking, sitting, standing on his head, spinning windmills: it all looks equally natural. In duets and group dances, Wieringa makes himself known as an intriguing dancer you want to keep watching.‘’
About Winter Wieringa
Winter Wieringa (1998), grew up among sheet music and meadows as the son of two artistic parents in North Holland. This is where he started as a b-boy; this foundation still lays the ground for his creativity and enjoyment as a dancer.
After graduating from the Modern Theatre Dance Department in Amsterdam in 2020, Winter has been actively working as a performer and choreographer.
As a performer, he values honesty. Making a valuable connection with the audience is always the top priority. As a maker, Winter aims to convey this in the form of energetic and lively performances that crunch like sand between the teeth.
Winter lives and works from Amsterdam and has performed in many countries and cities such as New York, France, Germany and Italy. Besides performing his own work, he has collaborated with Danstheater Aya, Collectief MAMM and Sedrig Verwoert, among others. In 2024, he was nominated for the Young Swan.
