''With wonderfully detailed, intoxicating swarm choreography, Christos Papadopoulos impressively stretches the boundaries of what choreography can be. In his specific form of ensemble dance, the dancers swarm across the stage as if in a dream, with an almost imperceptible build-up and without ever coming to a complete standstill. Ties Unseen tells an associative story about humans and their invisible bonds with each other, and about the human connection with the planet and other living beings. It evokes associations with clouds or ice floes, flocks of birds or schools of fish, in which leadership constantly changes and the mutual relationships are strong."

About Christos Papadopoulos

Christos Papadopoulos (Greece, 1982) studied dance and choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam, theatre at the National Theatre School of Greece, and political science in Athens. Papadopoulos is one of the founders of the dance group “The Lion and the Wolf” and has his own company under his name. Papadopoulos has created choreographies for numerous directors in Greece and has been teaching movement and improvisation at the Theatre School of the Athens Conservatory since 2003. 

OPUS and ELVEDON, the choreographer's first works, were well received and selected by Aerowaves in 2016 and 2018 respectively. Papadopoulos has since created works for Dance On and Lyon Opera Ballet, among others. In 2024, he created a solo piece for dancer Georgios Kotsifakis for LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura. In the same year, Papadopoulos collaborated with Nederlands Dans Theater for the first time. He created the work Ties Unseen for NDT 1, which premiered in The Hague in September 2024. In May 2025, the work My Fierce Ignorant Step, created for his own company, premiered at Onassis Stegi in Athens.
