Kick-off Writers trajectory hiphop

New voices in hip-hop criticism. How do we write about hiphop and urban dance? And what new voices and perspectives are needed to do so?

The official kickoff of the Writers trajectory hiphop  will take place during the Nederlandse Dansdagen 2026. This is a new development program for (aspiring) writers, critics, artists, and content creators who want to delve deeper into hip-hop, urban dance, and art criticism. Nederlandse Dansdagen, in collaboration with Theaterkrant and Stichting Sample Culture, will bring participants together for a year; they will attend performances and battles together. They will then engage in discussions with one another and reflect on what they have seen, with opportunities for various forms of writing, publishing, and knowledge sharing.

The official kick-off of this program will take place on Sunday, October 4. During this public gathering, participants, artists, programmers, and writers will discuss the future of hip-hop criticism and the need for new perspectives within arts journalism.
