Urban Paradox #8

Urban Paradox #8 took place on 6 October 2024, at Lumière in Maastricht, as part of the Nederlandse Dansdagen. Organisation was in the hands of Sample Cultureand the Nederlandse Dansdagen. Topic of discussion was ‘What can hip-hop learn from Jazz dance?’

The aim of the conversation was to explore how Jazz dance emerged within the Dutch theatre field and what happened afterwards. Is Jazz as a style still present in this field, or has it disappeared? What are the lessons the hip-hop scene can learn from this development?

Prior to the panel discussion, the documentary ‘Uprooted: The Story of Jazz Dance’
