Winners Dance Awards 2023 announced
Swans for Avatāra and dancer Giorgi Potskhishvili, Young Swans for Als het anders loopt and dancer Yeli Beurskens, Junadry Leocaria wins Innovation Award, Nita Liem wins Dansspeld.

Maastricht, 29 September 2023 - Tonight, at the Nederlandse Dansdagen Gala in Theater aan het Vrijthof, the Dance Awards were presented: the VSCD Swans and Young Swans, honouring companies, choreographers and dancers who have made an exceptional achievement in the past season. The Nederlandse Dansdagen Maastricht Innovation Award highlights innovative developments and talented makers. The Nederlandse Dansdagen Dansspeld is awarded as a token of merit for significant contributions to the dance sector.
Here are the winners of the 26th edition of The Nederlandse Dansdagen 2023 in a row:
SWANS
The Swan for Most impressive dance production was awarded to Avatāra by Shailesh Bahoran created by the Duda Paiva Company i.c.w. IRC.
Dancer Giorgi Potskhishvili of the Dutch National Ballet was awarded the Swan for Most Impressive Dance Performance for his role in De groene tafel from the Shadows programme.
YOUNG SWANS
The Young Swan for Most impressive youth dance production went to Als het anders loopt by Elien van den Hoek, Andreas Denk and Adam Peterson (Het Houten Huis/plan d-/Club Guy & Roni).
Yeli Beurskens received the Young Swan for Most Impressive Youth Dance Performance for her role in Hold Your Horses by De Dansers.
DANSSPELD
Nita Liem wins the Dansspeld, an award from the Nederlandse Dansdagen. The award is a mark of merit for significant contributions to the dance sector in the Netherlands. Liem receives the award for her contribution to hip-hop dance culture in the Netherlands.
INNOVATION AWARD NEDERLANDSE DANSDAGEN MAASTRICHT
Junadry Leocaria is the winner of the Innovation Award Nederlandse Dansdagen Maastricht. The incentive prize highlights innovative developments and talented creators. Leocaria will receive 25,000 euros for a new work to be created, which will premiere during Nederlandse Dansdagen 2024. The Innovation Award is made possible in part by the Municipality of Maastricht.
Vereniging van Schouwburg- en Concertgebouwdirecties (VSCD)
VSCD is the main advocate of theatres and concert halls. Performing artists contribute powerfully to the arts climate and are the capital of theatres and concert halls. Their achievements deserve special attention and a growing audience. That is why the VSCD annually awards prizes for the most impressive stage performances in various genres.
