Panel discussion: Performing the Archive - Emancipation, liberation, self-determination

Through dance, we experience and express our identity. Dance can empower, liberate, and underscore our self-determination. But how does this actually work? How are dance, culture, and identity intertwined? And what role can the archiving of dance play in passing on these unique qualities of dance to future generations? Fransien van der Putt and Guido Jansen discuss these topics with choreographers Renée Copraij and Mohamed Yusuf Boss.

Writer Jordi Ribot Thunnissen recently earned his Ph.D. with a dissertation on the poetics of Hans Van Manen and explains how efforts to keep his work alive relate to this theme.

This panel discussion is an initiative of Podiumkunst.net, Nederlandse Dansdagen, and Nieuwe Dansbibliotheek. The program was curated and will be moderated by Fransien van der Putt and Guido Jansen.
