dansLAB jong

In 2026, the pilot edition of dansLAB jong was launched: a new development programme for young choreographers and dancers who wish to create work for young audiences. Two creators – students on the Bachelor’s programme in Choreography or recent graduates in choreography from Fontys – were selected via an open call and will spend six months engaged in research, mentoring, reflection and practical experience.

Third-year dancers from Fontys’ DAC (Dance Arts in Context) programme are also involved in the programme via auditions. They not only participate as performers but also actively contribute to the creative process through their ideas and research. In this way, they gain valuable experience in creating and performing dance for children and young people.

The outcome of this programme will be presented during the Dutch Dance Days in Maastricht, as well as during the Dance Days in Tilburg, Enschede and Zwolle. Through dansLAB jong, a new generation of creators and dancers is given the space to experiment, grow and contribute to the future of dance for young audiences.
