Anna&Goda
Goddesses dream when they bleed

Goddesses dream when they bleed is the first creation resulting from the collaboration between Belgian artist Annabel Reid and Lithuanian artist Goda Žukauskaitė.

In this piece, Annabel Reid and Goda Žukauskaitė give an age-old act; washing, a powerful new meaning. What begins as domestic labour gradually transforms into a physical and visual performance about strength, vulnerability and reclaiming space.

Amidst washing lines, white sheets and sound, two bodies move through the weight and repetition of care work. They wash, wring, carry and twist, until everyday gestures transform into rituals of resistance and solidarity.

This interdisciplinary performance brings together choreography, sound and visual art, inviting the audience to look differently at work that often remains invisible. Goddesses dream when they bleedis an ode to mothers, grandmothers and all the women before them, whose care, labour and strength have sustained the world for generations.
