Sophisticated, dedicated, and inspired, Arts Umbrella Dance Company is a pre-professional repertory company based in Vancouver, Canada. The company trains, rehearses, and performs new and innovative works by leading international choreographers. Company members are students of the Arts Umbrella Post-Secondary Dance Program. AUDC performs across Metro Vancouver each season, culminating in Season Finale each May – four extraordinary performances at the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre. The company has toured to Montreal, Toronto, New York, Japan, and the Netherlands, and participated in exchanges and collaborations with groups such as Yokohama Ballet in Japan, Noord Nederlandse Dans Studio Group in the Netherlands, Joffrey Ballet School in New York City, Amsterdam University of the Arts, Dutch National Ballet Academy, Codarts, and Canada’s National Ballet School. An essential aspect of the Arts Umbrella Dance Company is working with a variety of international guest instructors and choreographers. Dancers acquire a broad movement vocabulary and learn how to understand and respond to a variety of choreographic visions. In addition to the immeasurable benefit of increasing their exposure and adaptability to the contemporary dance environment, these connections with the dance community create opportunities and open doors for our students to begin their careers as dance professionals.

Arts Umbrella alumni have gone on to dance professionally with companies around the globe, including: Ballet BC, Ballet Edmonton, Ballett Hagen, Batsheva Dance Company, Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, Konzert Theater Bern, Gauthier Dance, The Gothenburg Opera, Hessisches Staats Ballett, Kidd Pivot, Lyon Opera Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Staatstheater Nurnberg, and the Swedish National Ballet.

This performance is programmed in collaboration with Arts Umbrella Dance Company and Theater aan het Vrijthof.
