Beppie Blankert Dance Concerts
Dubbelspoor
What happens when you wait for a train that never stops, without knowing where you are going?
Everyone knows the feeling: the desire to disappear for a moment, not to be here in this very moment. Out of fear, shame, sadness, or uncertainty. This longing forms the basis for Dubbelspoor – a dance performance about waiting. Or rather: about the moment just before you make an important decision. With the dramatic twist of the arrival and disappearance of a second figure.
Dubbelspoor is a creation by choreographer Beppie Blankert and composer Louis Andriessen, featuring text fragments by Samuel Beckett’s Text for Nothing #7. The performance was created three times: in 1986 for two women, in 2000 for two men, and in 2010 for a man and a woman.
In 2025, 39 years after the first version, the waiting continues. The two original performers, Beppie Blankert and Caroline Dokter, are still sitting on the bench in an abandoned station, waiting for the train that never stops.
Beppie Blankert
Beppie Blankert (1949) began her career as a dancer but quickly discovered her passion for choreography. She has worked with various dance companies both in the Netherlands, including the Noord Nederlandse Dansgroep, Mezzing, and Dansproduktie, and abroad in Copenhagen (Living Movement), Wales (Diversions Dance Company), and Atlanta (Several Dancers Core).
Since 1987, Blankert has worked with her own company Dansers Studio, now Beppie Blankert Dansconcerten, in Amsterdam. In 1992, she received the VSCD Choreography Prize. Her work is known for its unique combinations of dance, text, and live music, often specially composed for her performances.
Caroline Dokter
Caroline Dokter (1957) was trained at the Rotterdam Dance Academy and the Ecole Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. She also completed a basic course in photography at the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam. She worked as a freelancer in various roles, including performer, dramaturg, choreographer, director, coach, advisor and photographer for renowned companies.
